As a new immigrant to Canada, 1958 was a big year of change for my grandmother, Francesca Ranno. A new house, new neighborhood, new people, new language she was facing new adventures including her first and second child. Her husband Giuseppe was always hard at work and so times together were cherished. The first picture here was taken in 1960 during a picnic at Jarry Park, the second was taken 49 years later. From this picture you can see right away that there is change: she got older, the weather was better, fashion changed, though some things stayed similar. The tree grew just as much as she did, but it’s still there for her to lean, to sit, or even to pose. One thing I love is that though much has changed, my grandmother will always have that smile on her face…
